Under the guidance of editor, Llewellyn Van Wyk, Vol 4 of the South African Green Building Handbook will not only be more visual, but also more factual, with focus on applicable principals backed up by case studies and references, providing accessible information about ecological design that engages with the relationship between people, buildings, and natural systems.
The Green Building Handbook is read by built environment stakeholders: clients, developers, professionals, contractors, and customers – providing them with an understanding of how buildings can be designed, built and operated to maximise their performance ecological in relation to human and environmental health.
The publication, through its well researched and peer reviewed editorial content, seeks to inject inspiration and a new energy among these stakeholders and to advance the market, in some small way towards a more sustainable built environment.
For many it will be a resource for application and for others it may provide the principals to help frame policies and strategic decisions. It demonstrates how to implement the good ideas that are needed to bring about effective and lasting behavioural change.
Linked to the Green-Building Courses: An Overview
The Green Building Handbook can also be used as an educational course – just buy and read all four volumes in print or digital copy, undertake the online questionnaire, and if you achieve about 80% you will be issued with a certificate.
